Hapalopus Formosus or Hapalopus sp. colombia, also known by the common name of Pumpkin Patch Tarantula, is a Tarantula native to Colombia, much appreciated by enthusiasts being easy to care for, rapid growth and voracity, therefore also suitable for beginners.

SIZE: S – 1.5/2 cm

SEX: Not sexed

FOUND IN: Colombia and surrounding areas with high humidity

ENVIRONMENTAL VALUES: temperature Between 26-27 degrees Celsius during the day, 23-24 degrees Celsius at night and humidity around 60-70%

DIET: Feeder insects suitable for the current size of the tarantula (crickets, cockroaches, larvae)

SETUP: terrarium or faunabox 30x30x25, 5 cm peat and/or coconut fiber substrate, the addition of tropical plants is advisable although not mandatory, bowl with water always available, along with a natural or artificial shelter 

HABITS: Terrestrial arachnid

BEHAVIOR: Relatively calm tarantula, it makes occasional rapid sprints if scared or stressed, therefore it is suitable for beginners but also for more experienced keepers

GROWTH RATE: High, extremely voracious species

LIFESPAN: Females can live up to 10 years in captivity, reaching sexual maturity in about 2 years.
