Phormictopus sp Dominican Purple is a tropical tarantula from Cuba, with a nervous and fossor character; has a beautiful purple and blue color and reaches, when adult, the 17 cm of legspan.

SIZE: S-2 / 2.5cm about legspan; it reaches dimensions not exceeding 17/18 cm as an adult of legspan

ORIGIN: Cuba

AMBIENT VALUES: temperature 27 ° -28 ° C daytime, 22-23 ° C night; humidity 65-75% and optimal ventilation.

FEEDING: small-sized insects, live insects (crickets, cockroaches, worms, locusts) of an adequate size based on the size of the animal are fine. The sling should be fed at least 1-2 times a week; as adults, even every 10 days.

RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT: medium-sized terrarium or faunabox, 30x30x30H cm for 1 specimen; Substrate of about 10/12 cm with a specific mix for arachnids, a natural cork den, fake plants or similar decorations and a bowl for water that allows you to be able to rehydrate and drink. Given the nature of this tarantula, it absorbs, like all tarantulas, liquids also from the substrate. It is necessary to recreate a slightly humid area and another a little drier to offer more areas for the animal.

HABITS: burrower, loves digging deep tunnels in the substratum up to 30 cm deep

AGGRESSIVITY: 5 - particularly aggressive if disturbed, assuming the classic defensive pose as well as using stinging hairs and a rather painful bite.

RAPID GROWTH: average, with an average life expectancy for males of about 2-4 years and, for females, 12-15 years

STATUS CITES: no

CLINICAL / TOXICOLOGICAL INFO: WCH ADELAIDE UNIVERSITY; AUSTRALIA
