The Augacephalus ezendami is a tarantula similar in color and appearance to other African tarantulas, such as the Heteroscodra maculata. However, it is much rarer and, due to its characteristics, is suitable for more experienced users.

DIMENSIONS: S - approximately 1.5-2 cm including legspan; adult body size approximately 10-12 cm (including legspan).

ORIGIN: Mozambique, drier savannah areas.

ENVIRONMENTAL VALUES: Temperature 26-27°C during the day, 22-23°C at night, humidity 60-70%, and optimal ventilation.

DIET: Small insects are preferred for spiderlings (they prefer fruit flies). From size M, feeding insects (crickets, cockroaches, worms, locusts) of an appropriate size are fine. Medium-sized isopods are quite voracious. Crickets and locusts in particular are recommended due to their high protein content.

RECOMMENDED SETUP: Large terrarium, 50x50x40 cm for adults, 30x30x30 cm for juveniles and medium-sized animals. The substrate should be at least 7 cm deep, with peat and mixed coconut fiber for slings, while for adults, approximately 20 cm of substrate depth is required. Tropical plants are also recommended, and natural elements such as leaves and other materials are appreciated, which closely mimic the typical environment of this tarantula. For hydration, in addition to regular misting, a water bowl is required.

HABITS: This is a predominantly terrestrial arachnid, with a strong propensity for burrowing into the substrate, also creating numerous webs within the terrarium.

AGGRESSIVENESS: 8 – Not suitable for beginners, given its aggressiveness and tendency to adopt a classic defensive posture if particularly disturbed.

GROWTH RATE: Rapid, reaching full size within 2 years, with a life expectancy of approximately 6-7 years.
