The Psalmopoeus Reduncus is a shy and fast-growing arboreal tarantula native to Costa Rica, suitable for moderately experienced terrarists. It requires well-ventilated terrariums and several hiding places.
SEX: Unsexed
DIMENSIONS: Size S - 2 cm including legspan; adult size (including legspan) remains no larger than 12-13 cm.
ORIGIN: Costa Rica
ENVIRONMENTAL VALUES: Temperature 26-28°C during the day, 20-22°C at night, humidity 70-80%, and optimal ventilation.
DIET: Small insects are suitable for spiderlings (they prefer fruit flies), and from size M onwards, appropriately sized feeding insects (crickets, cockroaches, worms, locusts) are suitable. Crickets and locusts are particularly suitable as they are high in protein.
RECOMMENDED SETUP: A small terrarium or fauna box, 15x15x20-25 cm. Spiderlings can be kept in standard containers until they reach an appropriate size, then moved to a small terrarium.
The substrate should be at least 10-15 cm deep, made of a mix of peat and coconut fiber, along with tropical plants, a bowl of water or hydrogel, and a natural or artificial shelter where they can hide during the day or consume prey. Daily misting is necessary to maintain constant humidity.
