DIMENSIONS: Size S – 1 cm. legspan included, it is kept on sizes no larger than 6/7 cm as an adult.
ORIGINE: Tobago and Trinidad
AMBIENTAMENT VALUES: temperature 25-27 degrees Celsius during the day, 22-24 degrees Celsius humidity 65-87% especially in the rainy season.
ALIMENTATION: small insects for spiderling (prefer drosophile) and, from size M, meal bugs (grills, cockroaches, worms, locusts) of adequate size are fine. Medium-sized isopods, quite voracious
TIP CONSES: small terrarium or faunabox, 25x25x25 or even smaller; for spiderling it is very good to insert these in the classic specific containers until they reach an appropriate size and then be moved to a terrarium, always small.
The substrate should be around 7/10 cm peat and/or vermiculite high, along with tropical plants, bowl with ever-present water or hydrogel and a natural or artificial shelter. Daily spraying is required to keep the internal moisture constant and, being an opportunistic ditch, it will create its burrow under a few pieces of bark.
ABITUDINI: ditch-opportunistic arachnid, likes to dig tunnels in the substrate
AGGRESSIVITA: 1 – rather docile dwarf tarantula although it often tends to take refuge at the slightest sign of danger in its lair, and then exit again. He hardly takes threatening positions.
GROWTH RAPIDITY: Fast, with a longevity of about 2/3 years
STATUS CITES: no
CLINICAL/TOXICOLOGICAL INFO: WCH UNIVERSITY ADELAIDE; AUSTRALIA
