The Pandinus imperator is the most famous scorpion in the world, seen in many films for its docility and ease of handling, being among the largest scorpions in the world!

SIZE: S/M-4/5 body (excluding legs and tail); reaches a total length of no more than 15-20 cm as an adult.

ORIGIN: West Africa

ACCIDENT PREPARATION VALUES: Temperature 26-28°C during the day, 22-23°C at night, humidity 75-80%, and optimal ventilation.

DIET: Small insects; appropriately sized food insects (crickets, cockroaches, worms, locusts) are fine. Medium-sized isopods are quite voracious. Crickets and locusts in particular are recommended as they are high in protein, although they should be fed in moderation, as this scorpion tends to be overfed in the terrarium.

RECOMMENDED SETUP: 40x40x40/25 cm terrarium or fauna box for 1 individual; approximately 10 cm of substrate with a specific arachnid mix, a natural coconut or cork burrow, live plants to maintain internal humidity, and a water bowl for rehydration and drinking.

HABITS: Primarily nocturnal, this arachnid prefers to stay in its burrow during the day before coming out to hunt.

AGGRESSIVENESS: 1 – suitable for beginners, calm temperament, often used in films due to its docile nature.

GROWTH RATE: Slow, with an average life expectancy of approximately 8-12 years.

CITES STATUS: Appendix B, provided with purchase.

CLINICAL/TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION: WCH UNIVERSITY OF ADELAIDE; AUSTRALIA

NB: The cost of Pandinus imperator is determined by various market factors in recent years; captive breeding is extremely rare, and even more so are those obtained from CB pairs, 100% purebred bloodlines and not hybrids, which entail significant costs.
