Savu pods, or Jequitiba pods, are selected and sterilized by our company before packaging, ensuring a 100% natural and safe product. These pods are typical of the Cariniana legalis tree, which grows in the Jequitiba region of Brazil (hence their name).
They contain high amounts of humic acids and tannins, released into the soil or water, which provide excellent protection against bacteria and fungi, as well as maintaining a stable pH/Kh similar to that of the dark waters typical of South American rivers.
Their shape also offers significant shelter for small reptiles and amphibians, as well as exotic insects (tarantulas, scorpions, millipedes, etc.). In aquariums, they are particularly appreciated both as a refuge and as a nutritional supplement (lignin) for shrimp and plecostomus (Otocinclus, Panaque, etc.).
